Fretboard Positions

Let’s study the most basic scale, “C major scale”, that is, “Do, Re, Mi, Fa, SO, La, Ti, (Do)” we all know.

With a general electric guitar, you can play “C major scale” in three octaves.
So, let’s focus on “Fretboard Positions” to find the most efficient fingering in each octave.

The goal is to be able to play all the fingerings freely in any position, but a beginner should first practice one fingering in each octave.

Through the following trainings, you can understand which note is at which part of the finger board.

  • Relax (especially the left wrist).
  • Always be aware of what note you are playing (whether it’s Do, Re, Mi, Fa, So, La, or Ti)
  • Use a metronome. Start with a slow tempo and gradually increase the tempo.

Let’s begin!

I will also show you “C major Arpeggio phrases” you can use for warm ups.
(The arpeggio is used in a piece in an opening scene of a famous video game, so I played it like that).
